In 1958, after leading the Lions to 3 NFL Championships and providing Detroit nearly decade of Hall of Fame play, the Lions traded Bobby Layne. Bobby was injured during the last championship season and the Lions thought he was through and wanted to get what they could for him. According to Legend, as he was leaving for Pittsburgh Bobby said that Detroit "would not win for 50 years." Check out more of the curse by clicking curse.

1958? wasn't that the last time the lions had a winning season. good luck in the draft. With the first pick in the 2009 NFL draft, the Detroit Lions select, Micheal Crabtree, wide receiver, Texas Tech.
If the Lions draft QB Matt Stafford that would insure the end of the curse.. both Bobby Lane and Matt Stafford went to the same high school in Dallas, TX..
Lori, Scott Wyman,, No, thier last winning season was in 2000. !957 was last year they won a championship, which is why it is called the 50 year curse. I will 100% guarantee they don't take Crabtree. Scott, when you become a Packer fan?
2009 will be the year everybody will hear the lions ROAR Now if management steps out of the picture us fans will be happy
